How we open an audit
A plain look at documents, people, and checkpoints we use when applying financial audit applications to e-commerce margin reconciliation.
Documents we ask for first
Settlement files, fee schedules, product cost sheets, shipping rate cards, refund policies, and — when available — order and refund event exports from your commerce app or OMS. We do not need live admin passwords; read-only exports are enough.
People in the room
A typical engagement includes your finance owner, the person who uploads SKU costs, and whoever manages marketplace ads. One of our auditors facilitates; another builds the reconciliation workbook.
Checkpoints
| Stage | What you see | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Fit check | Written note on whether a full audit or a narrower fee review suits you | Within 2 business days of inquiry |
| Data room open | Checklist of received vs missing files | Days 1–3 |
| Interim questions | Specific SKUs, campaigns, or refund batches that need clarification | Mid-engagement |
| Draft workbook | Channel margins with open items highlighted | Before the readout |
| Final handover | Workbook + 60-minute walkthrough | Closing week |
What “done” means
Done means your team can reproduce the margin total for the reviewed period without us in the spreadsheet. We are not a monthly monitoring product unless you later commission a retainer after the first audit.
